I don’t know if you’re familiar with Noah, but he is a 5-year old guy from Michigan, who isn’t expected to live much longer. He’s battling stage 4 neuroblastoma cancer, and his family is requesting Christmas cards for Noah this year. His address is:
Noah Biorkman
1141 Fountain View Circle
South Lyon Michigan, 48178
It has been verified by Snopes.com, and is 100% true. Please, send this little guy some words of encouragement, and make this his best Christmas ever. Also, please pass the word onto other people!
Thank you to Stacy R. and Adele S. for telling me about this!
I’m hoping everyone was disappointed as I was when I saw that the legalization of gay marriage wasn’t passed in Maine. It was close! However, people are forgetting to look at it as a winning situation. The fact that the bill even made it far enough to get voted on is successful. Clearly it’s an issue that might not change within the next year, but the fact of the matter is that it was brought up! It’s progress!! Instead of looking forward at the prize, I think we need to slow down and enjoy the scenery on the way.
There’s some kind of love, and there’s some kind of hate.

Georgetown University in Washington D.C. was recently ranked the 2nd most expensive school, coming in at a whopping $52,161* for the 2009-2010 school year. However, in the past week alone, the school has experienced two hate crimes. Both crimes were against students, and being classified as hate crimes due to their sexuality:
“According to a DPS Public Safety Alert, a male suspect repeatedly asked the victim, “Are you a homo?” before physically assaulting the victim. The victim was taken to the emergency room of Georgetown University Hospital by GERMS to be treated for injuries sustained in the assault.
A female student was allegedly physically assaulted on Canal Road last Tuesday by two unknown males after being taunted on the basis of her perceived sexual orientation. She said she was wearing a T-shirt expressing support for gay rights at the time.
A slur was found posted on the door of the LGBTQ Resource Center on Monday. Shiva Subbaraman, the director of the center, said she found the note, which was directed at her, on the door at 8 a.m. Monday morning. She said she contacted DPS immediately and filed a report, but declined to specify the nature of the slur.”
Oh Mattel. How the mighty have fallen! Clearly Barbie’s creative department has hit a road block, and in 2010 are releasing the “Barbie Palm Beach Sugar Daddy Ken Doll”.
Ken, looking festively gayer than Perez Hilton in Sephora buying new face cream is sporting an awkward, almost paisley blazer. Throw in a pink tie and a small white dog, and Ken is ready for a full day on Melrose Avenue complete with Botox and a musical.

American Idol season 8 runner up, Adam Lambert is releasing his first studio CD on November 23, 2009. First things first: I’m not a fan of Adam Lambert. I could care less about his CD, but when I saw the picture of the album cover that he released I may have had a slight anueryism. (I usually only suffer shortness of breath, and chronic eye pain when I see the amount of eyeliner on his eyes).
Adam Lambert’s pasty airbrushed skin makes me want to lie in a tanning bed for hours on end and cry while I listen to Enya. His 1980’s “Glamour Shot By Diane” with the head tilt is flawless.
However, I have to give the guy alot of respect. As on of American Idol’s first openly gay “artists”, I’m proud that he wasn’t ashamed to be open about his lifestyle. Unlike some other scary American Idol winners who sing about watching you in your room and try to pretend they’re not gay:
Oh no! Clay Aiken, you tricked me!
Adam Lambert, you scare me. Your excessive amount of guy-liner and often times ridiculous outfits make me like you 30x less than I already do. Even I have my limits, Adam.
Sorry for the lack of recent updates. It’s hard to think of what to put in a blog when you have no idea what your blog is supposed to generally contain. I’ve come to accept that is blog is going to be a smorgasbord of thoughts, social issues, and randomosity.
It’s fall time, kids! Get outside while you can…soon it’ll be snowing and -20 degrees, and we’ll all be bitterly complaining about the wind chill while en route to a class we’d rather sleep through.
Cook Forest, near the university offers an AMAZING outdoors experience, and awesome scenery. Here’s a few pictures of what you COULD be doing on a lazy Sunday, rather than sitting around and complaining:
Cooks Forest FireTower
Standing 7 stories over Cook Forest, the Cook Forest Fire Tower was retired in 1966. Standing 7 stories over CookForest, it offers an adrenaline-rushed climb, and an AMAZING view. (There is a 10-person limit on it at one time)
Here’s some other pretty awesome pictures taken at our excursion of Cooks Forest:
There’s currently a bill awaiting to be voted on in the PA senate; HB 300.
HB 300 says, “An Act amending the act of October 27, 1955 (P.L.744, No.222), known as the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act, further providing for findings and declaration of policy, for right to freedom from discrimination in employment, housing and public accommodation; defining “sexual orientation” and “gender identity or expression”; and further providing for unlawful discriminatory practices, for powers and duties of commission, for education program and for construction and exclusiveness of remedy.”
Clarion University’s GSA “Allies”, is hosting a movie screening of the movie, “Out In The Silence”.
Synopsis:
“Out in the Silence captures the remarkable chain of events that unfold when the announcement of filmmaker Joe Wilson’s wedding to another man ignites a firestorm of controversy in his small Pennsylvania hometown.
Drawn back by a plea for help from the mother of a gay teen being tormented at school, Wilson’s journey dramatically illustrates the universal challenges of being an outsider in a conservative environment and the transformation that is possible when those who have long been constrained by a traditional code of silence summon the courage to break it.”
The producer of the film will be there, and they will be selling DVDs.
Where: Gemmell MPR
Time: 7pm
Cost: FREE

The G-20 came and went. Over 10,000 people protested, and only a handful were arrested. But, that’s not the point. The point was local food venues were targets of hateful rioting.
I remember sitting on my friend’s couch, watching the news about the G-20. Suddenly, a window at KFC was broken. Followed by a bank, Boston Market, Panera, Rite Aid, but ironically Starbucks were not harmed during the G-20.More »
